JOHN OVERHOLT, TENOR, hails from Newport, Tennessee. John completed his graduate studies at the prestigious University of CINCINNATI COLLEGE-CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC, and his undergraduate degree at East Tennessee State University. He has performed with the Cincinnati Opera Chorus for several years, and gained national attention for his performance as Justice Antonin Scalia in the world premiere of Derrick Wang’s SCALIA/GINSBURG at the Castleton Festival in 2015, which was featured on National Public Radio. John’s most recent season included a production of Verdi’s FALSTAFF where he played Dr. Caius, as well as Gastone in LA TRAVIATA, both with KNOXVILLE OPERA. John’s passion for music and commitment to excellence in his craft have earned him numerous accolades and opportunities to perform throughout the United States. He has sung with multiple gospel ensembles and is also a voiceover artist. This season, Mr. Overholt can be seen performing with Knoxville Opera in their upcoming concert OPERA'S GREATEST HITS: A TRIBUTE TO ROBERT LYALL and with the AMADEUS CHAMBER ENSEMBLE singing Dvořák Sacred Works, including the Czech master’s complete Te Deum and selections from Stabat Mater.
